Easter Sunday
In stark contrast to the massive hype bubble surrounding Y2K, the New Millennium wandered in without so much as a whisper. Most TV networks didn't even begin coverage of the festivities until 11:30 and the round-the-world live coverage of last year was no where to be seen. New Year's Eve this year was strictly business.

We had dinner at home. Dinner was a simple affair: some filet mignon with a nice cognac mushroom sauce and a side of twice baked potatoes and green beans. When the clock struck midnight, a few neighbors flipped firecrackers into the street and made a bit of noise, but nothing that would prevent us from falling asleep by 12:30.

For all the hype that started the year 2000, it seems to have all faded away. While the Y2K bug may not have affected any computers on the actual switchover, by the sound of things, plenty of technology companies are on their way out after buying into the false expectations of a new economy. In the end, the Y2K bug turned out to be the hype bubble bursting.

This year promises to be the start of a new era, at least for me personally. After getting whacked on the behind by the laboring tech industry for the last few months of 2000, I start a new job and a new career next Monday. By the end of the month, Michelle should give birth to our first child. By the end of the year, who knows...

I'm beginning to get quite anxious. I've never much enjoyed waiting for things to happen and the past few months, despite a lot of active effort on my part, has mostly been about waiting. With the new year begun, things are going to start happening, and soon.

The Y2K party is over and it's about time to get back to business. A new millennium, a new year, a new career, a new child.
