Early this afternoon, we had our monthly pregnancy checkup. The little guy and Michelle are doing just fine. We got to hear the whoosh-whoosh of his heartbeat again and it sounds nice regular and strong. Michelle's been complaining of furious kicking lately and it's obvious that she's now starting to hit the major growth phase of the pregnancy.
Satisfied that everything is progressing as it should, we scheduled our next appointment for next month, hopped into the Audi and sped off towards New Jersey. Yesterday, while searching on the Internet, I found a great deal on a used Land Cruiser. Low miles, mint condition, nice price, so I called the dealer and scheduled a time to see it today. We got to the dealer a bit early and were greeted with a mint condition white 1995 Land Cruiser. It drove beautifully on the test drive, had low miles, and the price was in the right ballpark. So we set the ball in motion and began the paperwork required to drive it home. Then we sat there and waited. We chatted merrily among ourselves for a while, discussing cars, New Jersey, work, the pets, and so forth. Occasionally, the salesperson would wander back over to her desk, ask us to sign another paper, make a witty comment and disappear into some another random shadow. Then she'd suddenly pop up again from beneath the desk, push another paper across the desk and slowly fade from view. This repeated itself for almost three hours as we sat there and slowly got hungry. Finally, we were shuffled into a back corner office where the door was closed, more papers were presented to us and we dutifully signed them. Before we knew it, we were escorted out the front door, propped up beside our new Land Cruiser, congratulated for our purchase and sent on our way. Unfortunately, our way didn't lead us straight home. We were starving, but we had another appointment with an nearby Audi dealer to terminate the existing lease agreement. The Audi salesman was quite interested in purchasing the old A4, so after a 30 minute drive, we managed to close out the lease in a matter of minutes. Before we knew it, we were congratulated on our purchase, escorted past our old Audi and sent on our way. Tonight, for the third time since I've been a licensed driver, my primary vehicle is again a Toyota Land Cruiser. This time, it's a white 1995 FJ-80 with low miles and in mint condition, easily the best Land Cruiser I've had yet. At one point today, we also got a call from the vet. Pedro is slowly recovering and looks to be on his way back to good health. Today was a very good day. |
